Woman dies in car accident while getting tea for Christmas party

A woman and her husband headed out to get some tea for a Christmas gathering they were attending. Their child was with them, but since they were just running an errand, they allowed the child to stay at the party.

That decision may have saved the child's life. They were involved in a terrible car accident that put both of them in the hospital. Tragically, the 27-year-old woman was killed in the wreck. The driver of the other car was also badly hurt and had to be airlifted from the crash. That driver ended up at a medical center in Evansville, while the injured husband was taken to Union County Methodist Hospital.

It appears that the woman was driving, while her husband was riding along, and she slowed down to make a left turn. The other car was actually behind her at that time. Instead of slowing down with her, the driver of that vehicle decided to pass her on the left. Not realizing this was happening, the woman turned directly into the path of the passing vehicle, which slammed into the driver's side hard enough to push the car off of the road and cause it to roll.

It is unclear whether or not the woman was wearing a seat belt, but reports did note that she was at least partially ejected from the car as it rolled into the ditch.

Aggressive drivers who speed and/or pass when they're not supposed to do so often cause serious accidents. After a crash like this, it's important for the surviving family members to know about their rights to compensation, especially when children's lives will be impacted forever by the loss of a parent.
