Hit-and-run victim dies, police report arresting driver

There is truly no excuse for someone leaving the scene of an accident without attempting to render aid. There is no excuse for hitting someone and then leaving the scene to avoid getting into trouble. Despite that, people do still commit hit-and-run crashes, leaving victims fighting for their lives. Some don't survive.

The police in Shively have stated that they have arrested a driver who they believe was involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision in Kentucky. The police reported that a 55-year-old woman turned herself in on Nov. 1 and gave a statement about the crash.

The police believe that the woman struck a vehicle being driven by a 34-year-old man at the intersection of Garrs Lane and Dixie Highway. She was allegedly driving a Toyota Corolla or Nissan Sentra at the time, and with the use of surveillance the police were able to identify that it was burgundy with a gray driver's side door.

The investigators think that the woman's vehicle had been stopped at a light on the Dixie Highway when the vehicle in front of hers started forward and swerved to avoid the man crossing the roadway. Her vehicle continued forward and hit the man before continuing onto the Watterson Expressway.

The woman now faces several charges including tampering with physical evidence, leaving the scene of an accident, failing to render aid or assistance and failing to maintain required insurance.

If you're hit by a hit-and-run driver, you can seek a claim once the driver is arrested. There is no excuse, and the driver needs to be held accountable.
