Mother killed in tragic traffic accident near Shepherdsville

Imagine riding in someone else's vehicle. You're enjoying the ride, not paying attention to what's going on around you. Suddenly, you're struck from behind and everything changes.

Your children are left without a mother. You're unable to be there when they need you most. That's exactly what happened in this case.

A woman killed in a crash near Shepherdsville has been identified, according to a Nov. 12 report. The Pioneer Village Police stated that a two-car crash took place on Preston Highway involving an allegedly drunk driver. The report indicated that a 35-year-old woman, a passenger in one of the two involved vehicles, was killed in the collision. Her 11-year-old child was in the back seat of the vehicle when the crash took place and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment as a precaution. He was able to be released to his family.

A woman from Shepherdsville was arrested following the incident. The woman was charged with several crimes including first-degree assault, leaving the scene of an accident, first-degree wanton endangerment, murder and driving under the influence. It's not clear if anyone else was injured in the collision.

In this instance, one driver was allegedly behind the wheel while intoxicated and took the life of a woman with a child. If you find yourself in a situation like this, know your rights. As the family of someone who has been killed, you may be able to seek out compensation and make a wrongful death claim. At the very least, it's a good idea to seek a claim to benefit the children affected by the loss of a parent.
