Drowsy driving is the dangerous combination of driving and sleepiness or fatigue. This usually happens when a driver has not slept enough, but it can also happen due to untreated sleep disorders, medications, drinking alcohol, or shift work.
When you think of distracted driving, you probably think about people texting or talking on their cellphones behind the wheel. Those are certainly among the most dangerous activities a person can do while driving. In fact, a recent Virginia Tech Transportation Institute study shows texting is the most hazardous thing you can do behind the wheel. The study also showed that about 80 percent of motor vehicle accidents occur because a driver is distracted in some way.
